Find out why there has never been a better time to invest in Solar Energy...
Protect yourself from ever increasing energy bills.

workshop   Today's market place is not ideal for an investor (domestic or commercial) seeking a no-risk return that keeps in line with inflation. Opting to go through the Government Clean Energy Cashback Scheme provides you with the opportunity to do just that and to protect your savings by earning between 7 - 12% per annum returns, completely tax free, whilst reducing your energy bills.

The scheme is an incentive for us all to do a little bit towards renewable energy and our environment, giving a value to each unit generated payable to the investor, every three months and tax free.

On top of that income, you also get to use the electricity produced completely free of charge. YES you get paid for generating it as well as using it. If you do not use it yourself then you get an additional tariff applied to the unit price giving you a boost to your income.

The unit value applied is called the Feed-in-Tariff and is guaranteed for the next 25 years. This tariff increases alongside the retail price index (the higher of the two inflation markers), providing further peace of mind with your investment. It is important to recognise the sooner you get on board the scheme the higher your cash rewards will be - that is part of the Government Incentive.

Domestic Solar Installations
Case study: 4.00kWp Domestic Install
A 4.00kWp system will generate 3433 units of electricity as per the Government SAP calculation, this will provide an income of 610.00 in the first year alone. It will also reduce your utility bill by 240.00 per year based on current cost of 14p per unit.

This system is calculated to return 28,125.00 over the 25 year period, or a tax free investment return of 12.1% per annum. Future Utility price hikes over the rate of inflation will provide additional savings.

Commercial Solar Installations
Case study: 50kWp Commercial Install
A 50kWp system will generate 42,920 units of electricity as per the Government SAP calculation, this will provide an income of 6,588.60 in the first year alone. It will also reduce your utility bill by 3,004.00 per year based on current cost of 14p per unit.

This system is calculated to return 323,483.00 over the 25 year period, or an investment return of 16% per annum. Future Utility price hikes over the rate of inflation will provide additional savings.

FAQ's

Q. How much space on my roof do I need for a solar PV installation?
Grid connected systems start from around 1kW rating, this occupies approximately 8.2 square metres on your roof.

Q. How much electricity does a PV system output?
For every kW rating installed on a South facing roof the system will generate approximately 800 kWh per annum

Q. How much does a Solar PV system cost?
Prices start from around 3500, dependent on a number of key factors relating to the installation site.

Q. Are there any grants available to cover the cost of installation? Following the introduction of the Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme, generally, there are no longer funding grants available. However, this may vary in some regions; we can clarify this for you relative to your location.

Q. Will I be eligible for the new Feed in Tariff (FIT)?
Yes, the FIT is available on all Solar PV installations, with variable rates based on the circumstances of the installation, providing the company is MCS Accredited.

Q. What rate would I receive on the Feed in Tariff (FIT)?
The rates vary according to the size of the system and the type of property where it is installed. Generally, for systems up to 4kW rating installed on an existing property, the FiT rate is 15.44p/kWh for every kWh generated.

Q. Do I need to inform my electricity supplier?
We will inform them once the installation is complete. For systems larger than 16 Amps we will require permission in advance from the network operator.

Q. Can I export any of the electricity I generate?
Yes, all unused electricity will automatically be exported. Your electricity company will fit an export meter or they will pay you based on estimated export rates (usually 50%).

Q. How much will I be paid for electricity I export?
The rate most commonly paid is 4.64p per kWh exported into the National Grid. This rate may vary dependent on the electricity company.

Q. What is a kWh?
A kWh is "kilo watt hour" which is the standard used in all electricity bills as a "unit". All electrical appliances have a rating in kWh; an appliance rated at 1kW, will consume 1kWh (1 unit) for every hour it is on.

Q. How does the electricity generated get in to the internal system?
As part of our installation of the system we will connect into your consumer unit, this can only be done by a qualified electrician. The electricity generated will then be passed into the internal electricity system, to be used wherever it is needed.

Q. What happens during a mains power cuts?
Standard solar PV systems do not operate during power cuts for safety reasons. However, it is possible to upgrade the system to enable the system to automatically disconnect your property from the grid and to provide power from the panels and a battery back up in your property during power cuts.
